Recipe: Patzee's Slow Cooked Pork with Beans and Veggies | PALATE PLEASURES

If you have a lot of time in your hands on a weekend, what's a better way to spend it than cooking a delicious meal for the family. I haven't had any meat the whole week so today I decided I'm gonna have some (and it better be delicious!), but I still need to get my daily dose of veggies. So here's what's cooking today. Try this recipe and I'm sure it's going to be a sure hit on the dinner table (your kids will love it too!).

Slow cooked PORK with BEANS and VEGGIES

Ingredients:
2 TBSP vegetable oil
1 Medium sized Onion chopped
4 cloves of Garlic chopped
½ Kilo Pork meat cut into ½ inch cubes
2 TBSP light soy sauce
1 TBSP Oyster Sauce
4 Cups Water or beef broth
1 large potato peeled and cut into ½ inch cubes
2 med sized carrots peeled and cut into ½ inch cubes
1 Medium sized cabbage chopped
1 med sized red or green bell pepper
1 Finger chili siling haba (optional)
1 250g Hunt’s Pork and Beans (I don’t like the texture of dried white beans)
1 TBSP tomato paste
1 tsp sugar
Salt and Pepper

Procedure:

  • -          In medium heat sauté onions and garlic in oil add pork and cook for 3 minutes.

  • -          Add soy sauce and oyster sauce, cook for another 3 minutes.

  • -          Add water or beef broth cook for 30 minutes

  • -          Add carrots and potatoes cook for 1 hour (I want the meat really tender and veggies to be really soft) you can reduce the cooking time if you still want the crunch in your veggies.

  • -          Add the cabbage and Hunt’s pork and beans and cook for another 10 minutes

  • -          Add tomato paste, sugar, salt and pepper

  • -          Add the bell pepper and chilli last (so it doesn’t lose its aroma)

Serve hot with rice.

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 1 Hour 45 minutes
Servings: 4-5 servings

BLOGSPIRATION | Everyday-Makeup Look for Moms Like Me

I'm a single mom, and being a mom to a 5 year-old boy is challenging. I get up at 6 in the morning, take a bath, fix myself, prepare my son for school, bring my sister to school, go back home, pick my son up and bring him to school, coffee with friends, run a few errands, and the list just goes on. But no matter how busy the day gets I make sure that I give my self even just a few minutes to do my "beauty routine".

This is one of my favorite everyday look. Light and natural. It’s easy to pull off; you don't need ultra-skillful hands to do this makeup look.

Here are the stuff that I used for this specific look.

FACE:
Maybelline New York Dream Satin Skin Foundation in shade B4
Lancôme Precision Corrector (to cover up blemishes and under-eye circles)

Foundation to even your skin tone :)

Corrector to cover up blemishes such as the pimple mark
right above my upper lip and to lighten my under-eye circles.

CHEEKS:
Lancôme Blush Subtil in Miel Glace

EYES:
Markwins International Eye-shadow
Lancôme Hypnose Star Mascara in Noir Black
Maybelline New York Fashion Brow Sharp Pencil in Brown
My ever-trusted lash curler (no brand)

Eye shadow

Brow pencil - your eyebrows frames your face so, it's important to have
perfectly groomed eyebrows.
Mascara make your eyes look more defined.

LIPS:
Bobbi Brown in Atomic Orange

You  don't actually need to have all these brands, you can substitute it with your favorite stash. Use whatever is in your kikay kit.

Few more selfies!

Mommies out there! Don't forget to give yourselves a little time too. Don't be afraid to add a little color to your face by putting makeup on. Remember that we do things better  if we feel good about ourselves. Looking good, groomed and presentable adds to our confidence. A confident mom is a happy mom.

TTFN!

PROCAFFEINATING | Nonna's Kitchen | My Current Brew

Good day guys!

I hope you all are not too busy to make yourselves a cup of your favorite brew. If you haven’t had your coffee yet, well, it’s not yet too late. If you still have time to sit in a coffee shop and you are somewhere east of Bacolod, why don’t you head out to Nonna’s Kitchen? This coffee place is my current favorite. Their coffee is really good and they have several choices to match your current coffee cravings.

My usual morning cup is filled with their yummy CARAMEL MOCHA. It has a delicious mocha taste; it’s frothy and drizzled with caramel sauce.

This is like my daily winder-upper. Give me a cup of this and I'm good through-out the day or until the afternoon at least (coz I need to have another cup by then).

Here is another of our favorite. The IRISH MOCHA. This one here is drizzled with chocolate syrup.

...and if you're a CAPPUCCINO lover, they also have that here at Nonna's Kitchen.

Me and my partner are regulars here. We visit almost every morning, at least four times a week for several months now. Their staff is really friendly, they even surprised me with a birthday song over breakfast.

Nonna's Kitchen doesn't only serve hot coffee, they also have cold/frozen coffee-based beverages. They also have cakes! They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Nonna's Kitchen have great food listed on the menu that I have yet to try.

As for their coffee, it's a two thumbs up!
