Recipe: Patzee's Slow Cooked Pork with Beans and Veggies | PALATE PLEASURES

If you have a lot of time in your hands on a weekend, what's a better way to spend it than cooking a delicious meal for the family. I haven't had any meat the whole week so today I decided I'm gonna have some (and it better be delicious!), but I still need to get my daily dose of veggies. So here's what's cooking today. Try this recipe and I'm sure it's going to be a sure hit on the dinner table (your kids will love it too!).

Slow cooked PORK with BEANS and VEGGIES

Ingredients:
2 TBSP vegetable oil
1 Medium sized Onion chopped
4 cloves of Garlic chopped
½ Kilo Pork meat cut into ½ inch cubes
2 TBSP light soy sauce
1 TBSP Oyster Sauce
4 Cups Water or beef broth
1 large potato peeled and cut into ½ inch cubes
2 med sized carrots peeled and cut into ½ inch cubes
1 Medium sized cabbage chopped
1 med sized red or green bell pepper
1 Finger chili siling haba (optional)
1 250g Hunt’s Pork and Beans (I don’t like the texture of dried white beans)
1 TBSP tomato paste
1 tsp sugar
Salt and Pepper

Procedure:

  • -          In medium heat sauté onions and garlic in oil add pork and cook for 3 minutes.

  • -          Add soy sauce and oyster sauce, cook for another 3 minutes.

  • -          Add water or beef broth cook for 30 minutes

  • -          Add carrots and potatoes cook for 1 hour (I want the meat really tender and veggies to be really soft) you can reduce the cooking time if you still want the crunch in your veggies.

  • -          Add the cabbage and Hunt’s pork and beans and cook for another 10 minutes

  • -          Add tomato paste, sugar, salt and pepper

  • -          Add the bell pepper and chilli last (so it doesn’t lose its aroma)

Serve hot with rice.

Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking Time: 1 Hour 45 minutes
Servings: 4-5 servings
